How are you? I’m Soul,
Now I’m not sure what has brought you here today, but it would be my guess that one way or another you have come across one of my posts, which either intrigued you enough to want to read more, or has annoyed/angered you enough that you feel the need to come and have your say! Either way, welcome to you, your sense of humor, and your right to have an opinion :p
So a bit about me…..
First up, I should probably warn you that I have a rather wicked and warped sense of humor, I speak fluent sarcasm, I enjoy good banter, I can’t stand drama unless it is the kind you see on tv, and the only kind of games I like to play are the kind that involve a high end GPU or come in a box with 8+ years printed on the side of it. I well known for being a ‘cold hearted bitch’, this is mostly because I like to be straight forward, direct, & honest. I’m not a fan of having to add as I call it ‘frills and fluff’ on to things in order to dress them up and make them sound/seem all pretty, unless it is extremely necessary, to me it is a waste of time and is one of the biggest causes of miss understandings and problems in today’s society, well that and also the over use of emotions.
Emotions, well the lack of, may also, just possibly, be a contributing factor as to how I earned the title of bitch. It is a title I wear with pride, and one I wouldn’t want to ever change. In life I have found that the people who know me can be placed into three groups, the people who like me, my directness and honesty; the people who hate me for the very reasons that the others like me, and the people who are undecided. An in all honesty, I tend to prefer the people who are undecided, as it is usually (but not always) a good sign that they are being as real with me as I am with them.
Now that I have gotten all of that out of the way, I should probably add that I am a full time, sole parent & carer of two beautiful & quirky kids, who I’m sure you will hear all about. They are both by far my greatest achievement and my greatest undoing, this statement can only truly be understood by other parents, especially those with kids who like mine, are special, unique and overly quirky. Before kids, I never knew that it was possible to have a bond with another person that is so strong, and yet so fragile all at the same time, I also never knew the importants of making sure that all food is by colour and texture before being served, or that changing even the tiniest, most irrelevant of things, like lets say the way you brush your hair, can make the world come to an end. But then again I also never knew that the words ‘I love you, mum’ whispered to you, while you sit on the floor, exhausted and a complete and utter mess, could fill you with enough energy and strength to take on the world (more on all of that later).
I’m also a full time uni student, studying two BA‘s – Bachelor of Criminology (Co- Major Criminal Justice) and Bachelor of Behavioural Studies – Psychology (Co- Major Sociology), I figured that lets face it I’m not getting any younger, so why not throw myself in the deep end and duel two BA’s :p I chose to do them as part time individually, thus together making them full time study. I am currently in my third year of study, with probably another 12 years, give or take, to go… (three years left on the BA’s, then hopefully working towards my Ph.D). It is my hope to one day end up working for A.D.F.I.S. (Australian Defense Force Investigation Services (if I can finish my BA’s while I’m young enough to apply)), A.S.I.O. (Australian Security Intelligence Organisation), or the A.C.C. (Australian Crime Commission).
When I’m not chasing kids or studying, I’m also the Owner & Founder of Nomad United Gaming, which for the most part is an online PC gaming community, among other things. Now your probably wondering what on earth is a grown woman/mum doing being a gamer, right? Well there is no real simple answer to that question, other then, I enjoy gaming! Not to mention that a large majority of the most important people in my life, I have met due to being a gamer (there is a lot more to it then that, but I will leave those for another post). There is a very big misconception about the gamer world and well gaming in general, most people look at the gaming world in a negative light, without ever actually taking the time to understand anything to do with the what makes the gaming world the amazing place that it is, but that is a discussion for another post.
I have been an online game for as long as I can remember, and have had the joy and disappointment of being able to watch the world of gaming change and evolve into what it is today. Needless to say that the games are getting better and better as time goes by, but unfortunately the quality of the younger generations of “gamers” that are starting to come through are becoming truly disappointing. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying in any shape or form that all of todays young gamers fit into this category of ‘Toxic Disappointment’, I myself have been lucky enough to meet quite a few young gamers who I now classify as friends, tho the reality is, the toxic ones out way the decent ones in large quantities! But once again that is a discussion for a different post :p
When Nomad United Gaming was first founded, we wanted to create a place were gamers from all different backgrounds and play styles could come together and have fun, and that is exactly what we have done! I myself, like many other gamers, enjoy playing all different kinds of game genres, and don’t like to limit myself to just the one play style, however, I do have my preferred (mostly MMO’s, & RPG’s). But most of all I like being able to create amazing game servers and environments for people to play on. This means that you are more likely to find me siting in my dev office slaving away over codes and yelling at my screen, then actually running around in game most days.
So for those of you who are wondering why I decided to create this rantsite, the answer is that it was the lesser of two evils, I get told quiet often that I should write a book. But the problem with that is, that everyone has there own idea on what kind of book I should write, everything from my life story, to advice & support, to cook books, right down to parenting and animal care. So I figured that in all honesty with everything I have going on in life, with kids, study and trying to start/run a business, even on a quiet day I don’t really have the time to write one book, let alone a book for all the different topics suggested. However I do find 5min here and there, where I can throw some words into a post, and also be able to cover a wide variety of topics. An so here we are….
